I Got 99 Problems But School A’int One

Welcome back to the blog In Fine Fettle readers!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are still working toward those NYE resolutions. If however you’ve already given up on those well then… maybe better luck next year?

Haha in all seriousness though I promised you guys a life update and I feel as though this post is very much overdue but hey… I am here now.

If I am going to be completely honest with all of you life these past few months hasn’t been a walk in the park. If you follow me on Instagram or were to pass me on the streets there is a good chance that I would still be wearing a smile but that doesn’t mean everything going on is all sunshine and roses (as I am sure you expected when reading my title… I got 99 problems but school {for once} is not one).

As most of you already know and for those that are new I took classes full time this past summer and fall which in turn means that I am now in my off or “summer semester” and will not start classes back up until May. Then graduate yes… GRADUATE in December.

When fall semester was coming to an end and I was finally able to look forward to a break after 4 straight full-time college semesters, life seemed so full of opportunities and excitement.

But those feeling of opportunities and excitement quickly turned into me learning how to cope with the uncertainties of life.

Have you ever felt lost, confused on what to do… where to go? Maybe even like God is giving you the silent treatment?

Ahhh if so then please, go pour yourself another cup of coffee and lets talk about this!

I had plans for this spring like move out of my Toledo apartment, apply and get a job in Wyoming or Colorado… but God had other plans for me to say the least (in which I am still trying to figure out).

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes
their steps.
Proverbs 16:9

Maybe you are about to graduate or you’re still waiting to hear back from that dream school, maybe you don’t even wanna go back to school but you also have no idea where you will work. Maybe you lost your job, you are single and wondering if you’ll even get married…have kids. Or maybe when you look at your finances this year you have no idea how you are going to be able to provide/survive.

Truth is that we are constantly surrounded by uncertainties and there is nothing we can be fully secure in here on earth EXCEPT in Christ. We are not guaranteed anything and if you are feeling secure, independent… remember who is giving you even your next breath.

When you start thinking about how uncertain even your next breath is, thinking about 500 breaths, 2 days, 3 weeks, 4 months, or even an entire year down the road can be pretty overwhelming. And truthfully I believe THAT IS NORMAL and that’s why the Lord gives us some awesome bible verses to hold tightly to us and meditate on.

If you feel as though you are going through a really hard season facing life’s uncertainties or maybe you’ve just found yourself living in fear of the future, I encourage you to take at least two or all of these verses and place them somewhere that you can see them regularly.

Do not just glance over them but really meditate on these bedrock truths and you will see how God uses His word to encourage your heart and give you strength to face any circumstance. I know because I’m currently living it…

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:31-33

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you

Psalm 32:8

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

Romans 8:32

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Psalm 9:9-10

xoxo
